Honey

Are you eating your honey out of a dead carcass?
The story of salvation is found in each and every story of the Bible
In the story of Samson, he lost his strength. Everyone knows why Samson lost his strength
Except they don’t. The hair was the last thing to go
Three threads held that vow together
Delilah only cut one
We learn in Judges, Samson had supernatural strength. Delilah. Haircut. Gone
We treat the hair like the source code
As if God embedded power in the follicles and Delilah found the off switch
That is what I like to call, the Sunday school version
Judges 13 tells a very different story before 16 gets the chance to
Samson was a Nazirite from birth
One of the many greats who came from an infertile woman. Visited by an angel
Samson was set apart before he drew his first breath
The vow had three parts: No wine. No contact with the dead. No cutting of hair
Three restrictions. One consecration
The hair wasn’t the source of the power. It was the visible symbol of an entire life set apart
All three threads held it together
Now read Judges 14 slowly
Samson is walking through a vineyard, already too close to where he shouldn’t be
When a lion attacks him. He tears it apart with his bare hands
Then later, he goes back to look at the carcass
And scoops honey out of the dead body to eat
Contact with the dead
Thread one. Gone!
Then Judges 14:10. Samson throws a seven-day feast
The Hebrew word used- mishteh- is a drinking party. A week-long one
The man under a vow of no wine hosted a week-long drinking celebration
Thread two. Gone!
By the time Delilah enters the story. Samson had already broken two of the three vow restrictions
The hair was the last thread of a consecration he had been quietly unraveling for years
So when Delilah finally cuts it, She doesn’t take his strength
She reveals he had already given it away
Look at what Judges 16:20 says
“He did not know that the LORD had left him.” He didn’t know
The departure wasn’t dramatic
It was the quiet conclusion of a long unraveling
Samson woke up thinking he was still who he used to be
We’re looking for a Delilah. One dramatic moment. One obvious betrayal
One clear explanation for why the power is gone
But Samson shows us the unraveling almost never starts there
It starts in the vineyard
It starts at the carcass
It starts at the party that seemed harmless enough
Small compromises. Private ones. The kind nobody preaches about
By the time the scissors come out, the consecration is already threadbare
This next part is uncomfortable to sit with
Because most of us aren’t facing a Delilah right now
We’re in a vineyard. Somewhere we have no business being
Touching something we were told not to touch. But it’s just honey
Rationalizing something small because it doesn’t feel like the thing that will cost us
It never does. Not until the last thread goes
Samson’s tragedy was not that he was betrayed
It was that he didn’t notice what he was losing until it was gone
He had been so close to the line for so long that the line had moved without him realizing it
And one morning he woke up hollowed out, still expecting the power to show up
Not knowing he had handed it away piece by piece in places nobody witnessed
Delilah didn’t take Samson’s strength
She just held up a mirror at the end of a long compromise
The hair was the last thread. Not the only one
The collapse you’re afraid of doesn’t usually arrive as one catastrophic moment
It arrives at the conclusion of smaller ones you told yourself didn’t count
Check the threads. Not just the obvious ones
What is our source code today? What is the power God embeds in us?
His Holy Spirit
How does one receive the Holy Spirit?
I will ask you the same question Paul asked the disciples in Ephesus
Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? Acts 19 will explain more
I will tell you a sure fire test to determine if the Holy Spirit is inside you
If you are comfortable in sin, or sinning; He is NOT inside of you
Many were set apart before they drew their first breath
Their names are written in the Book of Life. Is your name in there?
The hair was Samsons visible source of his power
Today it is the fruit of the Spirit
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self Control
Are you walking through the vineyard? But I’m not actually drinking wine
Are you getting your honey from inside of a dead and decaying carcass?
The word of God is the honey
It can be found inside many dead carcasses here; False Prophets, False gods
Judaism, Denominationalism, Islam, and more
Denominations are division, Jesus warned strictly against that. Mathew 12:25
The many leaders of these divisions; used God’s words in the name of ‘interpretation’ and formed them into their own religion. A god created by a man. A few examples below
The Roman Catholic Church was created from mixing church and state (Rome)
The Baptist Church was founded in 1609 by English separatist John Smyth
Look up the definition of separatist
John Wesley and his brother founded the Methodist movement in 18th-century England
Joseph Smith Jr. founded Mormonism and the Latter Day Saint movement in the 1800’s
Muhammad founded Islam. He lived from 570-610 CE. He wrote the Quran
The list of dead carcasses is exhaustive; 46,000 denominations of Christianity alone
Those are a lot of movements, separatists, changed narratives; men seeking to be great
The founder of the movement that I follow today; Jesus Christ and Him alone
When was it founded? 2,000 years ago
The words that He spoke, the ones written down. The only books we need
Nothing else needed to be said after Him. Nothing else needed to be added
He covered ALL bases
Jesus ended with His Revelation; do not add to or take away
The mike was dropped and it should have remained down
They have been attempting to pick it back up since His ascension
Where are you eating your honey from? The words of Jesus Christ and Him alone
Or just like Samson, from inside of a dead carcass
Will you allow your hair to be cut? Will your branch be cut off from the Tree of Life?
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you; remain in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. John 15:1-11
Are you bearing fruit? Or are you cut off?
If you need to make a change, follow the instructions of Ananias after Paul’s sight was restored
Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins by calling on His name. Acts 22:16
I was deceived as well. Blinded by the baptist denomination. Jesus Christ put me in a valley so that I could see. Jesus restored my sight. I found the nearest water, I followed the words of the prophets
Have you been eating your honey from a dead carcass? One kingdom, One baptism, One body
